III. As described.
Born 14th December 1748 ; succeeded his father, as fifth duke,
1764. Died 29th July 1811. His first wife was the celebrated
Duchess Georgiana, and his second Elizabeth, the daughter of
the fourth Earl of Bristol, and widow of John Thomas Foster,
Esq. Both Wraxall and Miss Burney describe him as plain,
dull, uninteresting, and wonder at his winning these two beautiful,
brilliant women.
