Karol Zyndram MASZKOWSKI BM
Bom in Lvov in 1868 — Died in Warsaw in 1938
He studied painting under Wladyslaw Luszczkiewicz and Jan Matejko in the Cracow School of
Fine Arts in the years 1887 -1892, simultaneously with art history at the Jagiellonian University.
In 1893 he went to Paris, to continue his artistic training in Jean Leon Gerome’s atelier and at the
Academie Julian. After his return home, around 1898 he settled in Cracow. He spent some years
in Eastern Galicia (among others at Zabie from 1902 to 1907). In 1925 he moved to Poznan,
where he became the manager of the State School of Decorative Arts. He was a member of the
Society of Polish Artists “Art” (since 1907), the Society “Polish Applied Art” and the Society
“Cracow Workshops”.
He was involved mainly in interior decoration and applied art.
