represented as bringing in the products of the country. Chabas, in " Traduction complete des inscriptions
hieroglyphiques de 1' obelisque de Luxor, a Paris," gives the following translation of the characters
on the Paris obelisk/ It is the latest and doubtless the best of the many translations that have been
made at different times and published in Europe.

the temple of the soul and the gods of the great temple in joy. He has made the obelisk the Son of the
sun MEI-AMMON-RAMSES " living eternally."
