The next page is also greatly torn. It begins as
in 109-5, and 6*1, Communication. "Having in-
formed you that I have got the letter, you will be
glad to hear it. I will turn your attention to a
divine psalm, till you attain the title of a Thoth."
The remainder is torn. This page is the only part
of the papyrus marked into distiches. It is an in-
structive evidence of design to observe the different
phrases with which the paragraphs begin. Through-
out the two former papyri the epistolary form has
been kept up, the commencements therefore invari-
ably were: "When you shall have received this
communication." Through the whole of the pre-
sent one, the last word " communication " alone is
given. I have translated it "paragraph." Whether
this word was understood to be an abridgement
of the fuller conventional form, or the full phrase
an amplification of its shorter synonym, suspicion
is equally roused against the genuineness of an ap-
parent letter thus doubly headed in different papyri.

opens in the middle of a sentence....."where
its hunters are hunting. You can make your de-
votions while I have to (perspire) away in pioneer-
ing them on the road at their head. Those who
are in the camp make the dinner [a gap] your
hand is busy at arm's length, you get the ear of the
hostess [another gap—the aspiration of the poet
probably ran,] let the sun never come back again
in daylight to shine on you, let its place of setting
