Mv dear Wolf:
It was very kind of you to take so much trouble
in looking up poor old Struve for me; I regret exceedingly that you
had such a sad visit, and that you found him so very much aged.
The only way to get consolation in such matters is to remember that
this is after* all the course of Nature, and to it ye must all come.
It is still more dispiriting to see a similar break-up in the case
of a young man, such as me have had to look upon gradually here in
Rees. He is only 55, and in a condition not unlike what you
describe about Struve.
But enough of these sorrows; here is the lovely Spring again,
and we con get out into the air and the sun-shine, and feel young,
even if we are no longer so, as you say. I have two children now,
and I can get pleasure in seeing them in the true joy of life.
So here's luck and all good wished to you and yours; and please
rec ember me kindly to Valeniiiner too, when you see him.
Always yours,
