Dear rroLessor wolf:
1 have just received your letter of November
4. in view of what you say, i am asking uudendorff to
join our committee, noth schorr and Trager will be on
other committees of the union.
1 know how our merman friends felt about the
International Research Council. AS you doubtless know,
this uouncil has been replaced by a different one, the
central uouncil for international Unions, its objects
are different from those of the Research council. We
shall all be very glad when Germany joins the Astronomical
Union, and we hope that this may take place before the
meeting in this country next September; but in any case,
whether Germany has joined or not, our German colleagues
will be very welcome at the meeting, if you hear of anyone
in Germany who is likely to attend, i would suggest that
you send word to this effect to Sir Frank Dyson at Greenwich.
1 hope very sincerely that you yourself will be among the
number.
Mrs. RChlesinger joins me in sending our best
regards to you both. 1 hope we shall have an opportunity
to see your son Ernst before long.
RET
sincerely
yours.
