A most interesting, early map of the South Sea, tracing amongst others the track
of Le Maire’s expedition and the West coast of New Zealand. With many inscriptions.
Well preserved.
As to the atlas from which it has been taken, cf. Phillips, a list of geogr. atlases
no. 521.

Besonders wichtig für die Kartographie Australiens. Die Nordküste von Neu-
Holland ist in außerordentlich großer Dimension gezeichnet. Westlich von dem eben-
falls übergroß gezeichneten Neu-Guinea zieht sich eine langgestreckte Halbinsel, Terra
des Papous, hin. Eine Spezialkarte zeigt ein Stück der südlichen und westlichen Küste
von Neu-Holland. Sehr gut erhaltenes Stück. — Diese Karte stammt aus dem „Nöptune
Francois“, dem ersten wirklich modernen Seeatlas. (Vgl. Phillips Nr. 517 u. Sandler,
„Reformation d. Kartographie um 1700“, München 1905, S. 12.)
