rous notes on the navigation, the natural and civil history of Peru. Fully illustrated
with woodcuts and engravings partly folded, and numerous vignettes.
Plates 9 and 13 in Vol. I, 1 and 3 in Vol. III, and the frontisp. in Vol. V are
excellently reproduced by photolithography.

reflections on the genius, customs, manners and trade of the inhabitants

First edition of tho English translation. „Juan y Ulloa’s travels may be selected
as the most entertaining and satisfactory work of its kind; they are the acknowledged
source of much that has been published in other forms“ (See Sabin). The work
refers particularly to the following countries. Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia and
Paraguay. The plates Show also some interesting details of costume.
One plate somewhat torn into, otherwise well preserved copy.

This French translation is next to the original „Relacion“ the best edition of the
work, being by far superior to the English edition on account of the wealth of its
illustrations. Stamp on title-pages, first volume very slightly stained at beginning,
otherwise good copy with ample margins.
