MONEY.

The value of money was, in 1837,

as follows: —

■40

paras,

1 piastre; 5 piastres, 1 shilling. A dollar was worth about
21 piastres and 20 paras.

The coins chiefly consisted of 3, 4, 9, 10, and 20 piastre
pieces.

WEIGHTS.

According to Mr. Wilkinson, there are 2| rotoli in an oka,
110 rotoli in a cantar, which measures differ in some degree when
applied to different commodities.

There appear to be 5 okas in a roob, and 24 roobs in an
ardep.
