beautiful, though its

the workers be dwel-
lers in many man-

exterior of the Craft-
house is Japanese (for

emphasized by the
J apanese Gateway,
and its archway dec-
orated with carving
for a Temple of
Buddha, under which
we pass toward the
handsome Japanese
entrance. Though

Japanese is the pre-
dominant style of the
structure, we find in-
terpolated, as it were,
at points, a Moorish
looking window of the
Cairo type, a “mis-
sion” gable, a Dutch
window and a num-
ber of other quaint
features cropping out
here and there to sug-
gest contrasting char-
acteristics.
The house within
comprises a museum
or bazaar of crafts-
work—a textile de-
partment, an Oriental
room, a minstrel’s
gallery, a Chippen-
dale room, the chief’s
