ORIENTAL RUG
FOOLISHNESS
is always costly, and 99% of rug buying is
foolish. All who have read my ads in this
magazine and have ignored them are now
informed that my customers have bought
the best rugs imported within five years.
It is hard work to keep my supply, but it is
never too late for you to buy wisely. I get
hold of more real gems than any ten other
dealers. I sell more gem rugs than any ten
dealers, and am the only dealer selling
nothing else. I do not handle Kermanshahs
or other modern misrepresentations of real,
antique Orientals. Other trashy, new rugs
and doctored rugs are tabooed. Price list
on request.

BEDROOM IN WHITE ENAMEL

shown a few dozen different colors and fin-
ishes he is further from selection than ever.
The Sherwin-Williams Paint Company,
in its new offices in New York, has been at
no small pains to devise a means whereby
the amateur decorator may see the exact
appearance of typical finished jobs in
painting and staining, and a visit to the
actual size “model house” built in the
show-rooms may unreservedly be said to
be both interesting in itself and instructive
as a means of visualizing different color
schemes and applications of paints and
stains.
The company has arranged a complete
“country cottage,” at full size, on the
ground floor of its new offices—a demon-
stration which should enable both archi-
tects and their clients to acquaint them-
selves in advance of the exact appearance
of projected work.
Entering the offices the “reception-
room” will be found to represent, with
amazing verisimilitude, the approach of a
charming country cottage. A pergola and
garden furniture give a delightful outdoor
aspect, enhanced by a rural vista decorat-
ing the wall which forms the background.
The house itself is of shingles painted
white, with a green roof and old-fashioned
solid shutters, also painted green. Step-
ping under the pergola, a pair of tall
French windows afford a glimpse into the
living-room, attractively finished with a
mahogany treatment of the woodwork and
furniture and a rich- brown glaze wall
treatment, with stenciled decorations. It
is complete in all decorative and livable
details, and having seen it you want a
room exactly like it in the house you intend
to build. You never realized before what
a wonderfully rich and esthetic effect could
be attained by such charmingly simple
means.
Adjoining this room is the dining-room,
having seen which you will probably for-
get, for the moment, your enthusiasm for
the living-room, and center your ideals
about finishing a room exactly like this.
