This has a very pretty initial and partial border with hound
and hare at the bottom, of good French work.
The fish pattern in red and blue down the columns occurs in
both parts of the book.
Ends 279 <5: quod apostolus dicit. ro. vi. et in ipso et per
ipsum et cum ipso sunt omnia : ipsi honor et gloria in sec.
sec. Amen.

xii late, in a good black hand, rather pointed. 2 fo. bibebat quod.
Calf binding, pr. 4s. 6d.
Collation : i10 210 312 410-910 io8 1 i10-i310 i48-2i8 224 234 1 flyleaf.
It is very probably the Lanthony copy no. 167. Aug. super
Joannem magnum volumen. The style of ornament etc. will suit
very well.
Title in lines alternately red and green : Aurelii Augustini doctoris
egregii hyponensis ep. omelie in euangelium domini lhesu sec.
Iohannem incipiunt. quas ipse colloquendo prius ad populum
habuit et inter loquendum a notariis exceptas eo quo habite sunt
ordine uerbum ex uerbo postea dictavit . . . . . f. i
Intuentes quod modo audivimus
Long initial in red, yellow and green. A grotesque head at top: in
the shaft are five medallions containing grotesque heads, four-
human, the lowest of a beast.
There are some pencil notes of days on which particular homilies
are to be read. Initials to homilies are decent. The sequence of
colours is commonly red, blue, red, green.
Ends 2026: terminare sermonem. Colophon in red and green
capitals.

expl. The rest (quas ipse—dictauit) added in the margin in a
small late hand.
On the (smaller-sized) flyleaf is a list in two hands (xiii) of days on
which homilies are to be read.
