iv. 39-51 and v-vn are wanting: iv. 37 is entitled Theoda-
hado instead of Theodagundae: 38 is Actoribus (for Fausto):
39 is Johanni archiatro (for Theodahado). Thus the true
rubrics of 37, 38 have dropped out, and those of 40, 41 are
given instead.
Ending with Dacio ep. mediol. and Edictum Quis nescit proui-
dentiam—ad uos perueniet munificentia principalis. Expl.
lib. IXUS.
Finito libro reddatur cena "Willelmo.
On the flyleaf is the note: quae in impressis habentur ab Ep. 40
libri quarti usque ad initium libri octavi omnia hie desunt.
The MS. was seen by Mommsen. See M.G.H., Auct. Ant.
XII Cassiodorus, f. Ixxxii. no. 19. It is one of a large group
in which the same lacuna occurs.
The last pages have many scribbles. Ric. de Poltemore once
and parts of the name Poltemore occur often on 147 b.
On 147$, 148 a another hand writes a series of verses, mostly
about the Cross:
Ecce crucis signa gaudet qua concio digna
Assit moite (morte ?) sua spectans patris perizoma etc.
On the verso in another hand are many pen trials :
Scribere clericulis paro doctrinale nouellis (Alex de Villa dei).
Imperatorium magestatem (Justinian) etc.
On 149 (150 a) is a large circular pattern inscribed with, and
composed of, verses which lead into each other from the
intersections (often obscurely) and seem to begin at the top
of the outer circle. The capital S’s are common to two
words as_a rule. I read them thus:
Si tu qui transis Sodes bonus aut malus an sis
Scire uelis moris Seu cuius condicionis
