Hardy, Materials, ill. no. 465 refers to App. to Luard’s Bar-
thol. Cotton, p. 434: these are not the text before us.
108 b—110 blank.
4. Chronicon T. Sport (or Sprot) ; no title . . . . 111
Lux vera que illuminat omnem hominem
Ends in Hugo III: et vestram vitam sancte sue ecclesie in
tempora longiora profuturam. amen. (Thorne ap. Twysden
col. 1876).
Hardy, l.c. no. 116, calls it ‘a mere abbreviation of the earlier
part of the Canterbury Chronicles of Thorne and Sprot.’
After 122 is a slip with an account of a vision seen by Elmer:
not in Thorne.
On 163 b are some scribbles in French, Latin, English (xv and
xvi); the latest is :
Euripides
Legibus aequis mores dominantur iniqui
yll customes overcum good Lawes
There seems indeed to be hardly anything in it which is not in
Thorne, and it is appreciably shorter: but whether it is not
an earlier compilation than Thorne others must judge.
