the ancient Commentaries on the Code of Manu (VII,
154), with several interesting vv. 11. Thus in 11,4
for the reading of Govindaraja is

intelligent and honest and anxious to obtain a living,
he shall say to him in secret: Do thou cause thy dis-

ascetics employed in that work, on my account.’
