Der in der vorderen Mittellinie aufgeschnittene Uterus
läßt in seinem Cavum die noch an der hinteren Wand
festhaltende eröffnete Fruchtblase erkennen, aus der ein
kurzes Stück des Nabelstranges hervorragt; ihr unterer
Pol erstreckt sich bis in die Gegend des erweiterten
inneren Muttermundes, unterhalb dessen die Palmae
plicatae der Cervix deutlich sichtbar sind. Im Scheiden-
grund befindet sich ein flacher, mehrere Zentimeter nach
abwärts reichender Riß mit stark klaffenden Rändern.
In dem rechten eröffneten Ovarium, an dessen dista-
lem Pol, erblickt man das charakteristisch gefärbte und
gefältelte Corpus luteum verum, dem das diese Gra-
vidität bedingende Ei entstammt ist.
Im linken Ovarium befindet sich in der Mitte der
Schnittfläche der unteren Hälfte ein kleines Corpus
fibrosum.
Das Präparat wurde bei der Sektion einer an doppel-
seitiger Lungenentzündung verstorbenen 26 jährigen Frau
gewonnen, die am (i. Krankheitstage abortiert hatte. Bis
zu der akuten Erkrankung an Pneumonie war die
Schwangerschaft (5. Monat) bei der Primipara völlig
normal verlaufen.

Menstruierender lie ins.
Das Präparat stammt von einem 20jährigen Mäd-
chen, das 1892 an Cholera asiatica nach 2tägiger Er-
krankung verstarb. Die Periode hatte zur richtigen Zeit
am Tage vor der Erkrankung eingesetzt.
An dem Präparat ist die vordere Wand des Uterus
bis auf einen schmalen dem Fundus entsprechenden
Stumpf abgetragen, um einen besseren Einblick in das
Innere zu gewähren. Das Lumen ist von einem frischen,
die gesamte Uterus-Cervixhöhle ausfüllenden, sich gegen

G. 1.
Uterus in the Fifth Month of Pregnancy.
The uterus has been divided in its anterior middle
line. In the uterine cavity, and still closely adherent
to its posterior wall, the ruptured foetal sac may be
seen, with a short portion of the umbilical cord pro-
jecting from it. The lower pole of the sac reaches to
the dilated internal os uteri, below which the arbor
vitae of the Cervix is very evident. There is a
shallow tear, with widely gaping edges, in the sub-
mucous tissues of the vagina, extending several centi-
metres in a backward direction.
At the distal pole of the right ovary (which has
been laid open) is the Corpus luteum verum with
its characteristic colour and folds, from which originat-
ed the ovum concerned in this pregnancy. A small
Corpus fibrosum appears in the middle of the cut
surface (lower half) of the left ovary.
The specimen was obtained at the autopsy on a
primipara, aged 26, who died of double pneumonia.
The miscarriage occurred on the 6th day of the pneum-
onia , but up till the onset of the disease 4he preg-
nancy (of 5 months' duration) had run a perfectly
normal course.

Uterus during Menstruation.
Tin- specimen was taken from a girl, aged 20. who
died (in 18!)2) of Asiatic cholera, after two days' illness.
The period had just come on in due course the day
before she got ill.
The anterior wall of the uterus, all but a little
stump at the fundus, has been removed to give a
better view of the interior. A blood clot is seen at the
fundus uteri (where it is firmly adherent to the orifices
of the Fallopian tubes); it fills the lumen of the uterus
