fol. 193v is blank, with ' probationes pennae '): Deo
gratias. amen. Christe audi nos, Ckriste audi nos Christe
audi nos- Sancta Maria or a. pro nobis; sit intercessor
nobis. The quire-marks are numerals. One scribe
(foil. 84r sqq.) puts them both on the last and on the
first page of the quire. The two plates (iv, v) shew
how the scribes vary in loyalty to Insular and to Con-
tinental script. The Continental entry in the margin
of fol. 33r irascitur uses the apostrophe symbol of ur.
Another, (fol. 163r) scriptor de se inquid (with i longa
in the first syllable), shews us that inquid (not iuquit)
was the current spelling (as well as the spelling used
in the text of the MS.). There are some German
glosses in this MS., (fol. 76r) gota uueppi (on ostro),
(fol. 146v) smeribirga (on cuspide). The omission-marks
used by a Continental-script corrector are:

Palae. Lat. I p. 59, § 135 (and exhibited there on
pi. I, no. 20) appears sometimes in this MS. This
variety must not be claimed for an infallible proof of
Irish rather than English provenance.
