storytellers and poets from the region appear, are occasio-
nally organized in that house. The Ethnographic Department
of the Swi^tokrzyskie Museum, of which the house at Bie-
liny is a branch, supplies information on the various forms
of folk culture to be found in the area; one can, for instance,
see the production of folk toys at Eqczna or listen to local
poets (Maria Cedro at Wilkow or Michai Basa at Tarczek)
recite their poems.
BIELSK PODLASKI (Biaiystok Voivodship)
MUSEUM OF MARTYRDOM is lodged in the Secondary
School of Agricultural Accountancy, 18 Holowieska Street.
Inaugurated in 1970, the Museum shows the struggle and
martyrdom of the inhabitants of the Bielsk County during
the Nazi occupation.

Open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m.
to 3 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Closed on Mondays.
Opened in 1947 as a continuation oi the Municipal Museum in Biaia,
established in 1897, and the Municipal Museum in Bielsko, established
in 1902. Since 19-15, the Museum has occupied a part oi the castle
of the Princes Sulkowski built in the 15th century and rebuilt in
the subsequent centuries.
The museum collects mementoes connected with the history
of the towns of Bielsko and Biala. It has sections of artistic
craftsmanship, guild mementoes, weaving, an ethnographic
collection and works of art including paintings and sketches
by Julian Falat.

BIERUTOWICE (Wrociaw Voivodship, Jelenia Gory County)
Open-air MUSEUM. The Vang Church — wooden structure
from the first half of the 13th century, with rich carved
ornamentation; it was moved to the present location from
Vang in the province of Valdres, Norway, in the years
1842—54.
BILGORAJ (Lublin Voivodship)
REGIONAL MUSEUM, 51 Market Square, open daily from
10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sundays and holidays from 10 a.m. to
6 p.m. The museum, inaugurated in 1967, is lodged in the
building of the Praesidium of the Municipal People's
Council, in the Market Square. The collections pertain to
specimens of folk culture, mainly sieve-making the traditions
of which in this area reach back to the 17th century; also
exhibited is the material illustrating the history of the dis-
trict of Bilgoraj especially the resistance movement during
World War II.
