KRYNICA

The ethnographic section contains, among other things,
a collection of women's bonnets from the Krotoszyn region,
a man's and a woman's costume from the end of the 19th
century, specimens of folk culture — a handmill, a pestle
for pounding grits, spinning wheels, a reeler, etc., folk
ceramics.
In the historical section — a collection of artisan guild
documents, guild coffers, pistols, mortars and docu-
ments; mementoes of the Marksmen's Society and materials
from the period of the struggle for the Polish character of
the town. In the archaeological section — excavations from
prehistoric burial grounds and casteHa in the district of
Krotoszyn (Stone Age and Bronze Age).
KRYNICA (Cracow Voivodship, Nowy Sqcz County)
NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM, based on the ornithological
collection of Mrs. Kmietowicz. Villa "Dewajtis", 11 Swier-
czewskiego Street.
KRZEMIONKI OPATOWSKIE (Kielce Voivodship, Opatow
County)
ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESERVE, branch of the State Ar-
chaeological Museum in Warsaw, open daily from spring
until late autumn, from 10 a.m. till dusk.
Tourist service is provided by the local branch of PTTK at
Ostrowiec Swigtokrzyski: 35 Pierwszego Maja Avenue, tel.
25-24. Bus connection from Ostrowiec (12 km).
In one of Europe's Iargest mines of striped flint, from the
Later Stone Age (c. 2000 B.C.), several pits, chambers and
galleries have been opened to visitors. Also open is an
exhibition presenting the mining and processing of flint
against the cultural background of the various epochs. It is
planned to make the whole complex of some 1,000 pits
accessible to visitors.
KUTNO (Lodz Voivodship)
MUSEUM of the Battle on the Bzura, located in the Park
of the Spring of Nations. Branch of the Museum in Oporow.
Open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
KWIDZYN (Gdansk Voivodship)
CASTLE-MUSEUM, 1 Parkowa Street. Open daily, except
Mondays and days following holidays, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Group excursions admitted at other hours, too, upon previous
notification at PTTK, 7 22 Lipca Street, Kwidzyn, or at the
Museum.
The Museum, established in 1950, took over what had been saved
from the collection of the pre-war museum. It is lodged in the
Gothic castle buiit in the years 1310—10.
Displayed in several score of halls and rooms, are the follow-
ing sections:
