area adjacent to the Rotunda is a cemetery of the murdered

exhibition of documents of martyrdom, instruments of tor-
ture, posters announcing executions etc. Temporary exhibi-
tions are also organized.

The Museum was established in 1958, modelled after the Tatra Mu-
seum in Zakopane. In 1960, the Museum took over the ethnographie
collections of the former Babia G6ra Museum. The exhibition halls,
opened to visitors in 1962, present the following:
National Parks of the world and of Poland;
History of the protection of nature in Babia Gora, history
of the establishing of the National Park, the species of plants
and animals under protection;
The topographical features and the geological structure of
Babia Gdra, the hydrography of Babia Gora and the plant
and animal world;
Man in the Carpathian Forest, colonization and occupations
on the Zawoja and Orawa side, costumes and architecture.
The garden with Babia Gora plants in front of the building
complements the exposition.
It is planned to establish an open-air museum at Zawoja and
to furnish the buildings with ethnographic exhibits now at
the Museum.
A specialized Library of more than 3,000 volumes has works
dealing with Babia Gora, the Western Carpathians and the
protection of nature.

REGIONAL MUSEUM OF THE ZBASZYN REGION in the
dungeon of an 17th-century castle renovated for this purpose.
Inaugurated in 1965, the Museum was established through
the efforts of the Praesidium of the Municipal People's
Council and of the Great Poland Cultural Society in Nowy
Tomysl. It has collections of folk art, including folk musical
instruments, such as ditdi/ and stestenlci (shawm) and a three-
string violin called Tnazatikt ("daubers").
ZDBICE (Koszalin Voivodship, Walcz County)
MEMORIAL ROOM devoted to the Battle of the Pomeranian
Ramparts. Inaugurated in 1967. The mementoes exhibited
pertain to the struggles for the Pomeranian Ramparts in
World War II.
