in all the* parts of painting. Nothing remains
now to say, only that Correggio is the modern
Apelles, because in comparison with him he has
possessed the highest grace in the art, and with
his lingular works he has taught the perfection
which we have to search in the execution of
painting, to the end that we might finally ar-
rive to know when we may with propriety call a
work complete.
