687. Imitations of Italian Renaissance sculpture.

1. A considerable proportion of the imitations of Italian
Renaissance sculpture which are now being made in Italy are
hardly of a character to deceive responsible Museum officials;
but even these sometimes find their way into private collections.
It is perhaps just worth while to call attention to the copies and
adaptations which appear to be being made at present in con-
siderable quantities at Siena, old paving stones being sometimes
used as the material. "The three attached photographs represent
