examining the interior of the bust it is noticeable that the clay
is much thicker than in any Renaissance. bust of this scale (small
life size) with which I am acquainted. I incline to think that it

3. Two wood statues of very much greater importance are
at present in the possession of Commendatore Ventura at Florence.
He acquired them last year from Barsanti in Rome, and they
received certificates from one at least of our Italian. colleagues
