G H A P T E R III.
Of the Communication of the Ventricles os the Encephalori
with each other, as described by other Authors.
*"" nHERE are four ventricles within the human ericephalon, to wit,
two called lateral ventricles within the hemispheres, into which the
brain is divided : A third ventricle lies under a septum, between the lateral
ventricles : A sourth is situated between the tuber annulare and cerebellum.
These cavities have been described by Galen, and by many fucceeding
Authors os eminence, as all communicating with each other * ; and the
sourth ventricle has by some eminent authors, particularly by Dr Haller^
been supposed to communicate with the cavity os the fpinal marrow s.
The manner of the communication os the third ventricle with the sourth
has been generally well understood.
A hole or paffage at the upper and sore part os the third ventricle has
not only been described, but painted by difserent authors, under the name
of Vulva J. A sew authors likewife have mentioned a place under the sor-
