Beyond the ganglia, or after the anterior and posterior bundles of ner-
vous fibres are intermixed, the external anterior and posterior branches of
spinal nerves are detached, and, at the same places, connections are form-
ed with the great sympathetic nerves *. The nature of which I mall af-
terwards attempt to explain.
SECT VI.
In like manner, the accessory nerve, which comes out behind the liga-
mentum denticulatum, takes its rise partly from the side of the spinal mar-
row, and partly, by filaments, is connected to the posterior bundle of some
of the spinal nerves -s.
