TABLE X.
TPHIS table represents a fore view of the spinal marrow os
a man, after cutting away the bodies of the vertebrae,
laying open the ssieaths formed by the dura mater and arach-
noid coat, and cutting the anterior bundles of the spinal nerves.
AB The sides of the atlas or first vertebra.
CDEF The iheaths sormed by the dura mater and arachnoid coat laid open.
G The upper end of the spinal marrow inclosed in its pia mater.
H Its under part at the under part of the second vertebra os the loins.
IK Folds, rugae, or joints of the spinal marrow.
L The cauda equina.

1,1, Represents the first pair of cervical, or rather subcervical vertebral
nerves, &c.
8, 8. Represents the sirst pair of dorsal nerves.
20,20. The sirst pair of lumbar nerves, &c.
M A septum or partition between the holes in the dura mater sor the pas-
sage os the anterior and posterior bundle os sibres which compose each
os the nerves os the spinal marrow.
N The anterior bundle, in its proper hole, covered by a ssieath os the du-
ra mater which covers the spinal marrow.
O The posterior bundle with its proper hole and {heath.
P A ganglion in the posterior bundle.
Q^The anterior bundle joined to the nerves which issue srom the ganglion
os the posterior bundle.
RSTU The accessory nerve, taking its rise srom the side os the spinal
marrow,
