for the spermatic vessels in the male, and the
round ligament of the womb in the female.
On pressing the under part os the tendon be-
tween the finger and thumb, it feels thicker
than any other part of the tendon, and there
seems to be a certain proportion of ligament-
ous matter added to it.
It is thicker and broader towards the olTa
pubis, than near the anterior superior spinous
process of the ileum.
The aponeurosis of the external oblique
muscle divides into bands, to form the in-
guinal ring, one of which goes before, the
other goes behind the spermatic chord of the
male, or round ligament of the female.
That which passes behind, is inserted into
the crest of the pubis.
This divilion of the fibres os the tendon
into two chords, which form the ring, takes
place in some subjecls, two or three inches
above the ring; in others, near the ring.
