Sabatier acknowledges that he mistook a
venereal bubo for a crural hernia *.
Mr Else f met with a lingular case os crural
hernia, in which the hernial tumour was placed
behind a swelled lymphatic gland of the groin;
which complication of disease might very
readily have deceived a surgeon.
The subject of this case had been a phyli-
clan's patient, in St Thomas's Hospital, on ac-
count of rheumatic pains, but which his phy-
sician concluded to be venereal. He had gone
out in a coach, and said, that, from the jolting
os the coach, a swelling had come on in his
groin. Mr Else dire&ed a poultice to be ap-
plied to the tumour.
The per sori died in three days, with all the
symptoms os stranguiated intestine. Mr Else
opened
