Left humerus in position, rest of arm bones and skull missing. Body lying well over on back.
Intestinal matter. Flesh dried upon ribs and vertebrae. Under matting well preserved, Type II,
lengthwise.

BURIAL: Adult male (E. S.) on right side, head south, plundered.
GRAVE GOODS: None.
Only three lower vertebrae, pelvis and legs remain. This burial was lying, exceptionally, on right
side, face east. Tinder matting preserved at pelvis, Type II, lengthwise.

The wooden box contained the scattered remains of four burials, none in original position. The
four skulls are marked A, B, C and D on Figure 44 a. Fragments of under matting of Type II,
laid crosswise of box.
The box is shown on Figure 44 b, c. The corners were not jointed, and the sides and ends
were held in place by vertical posts driven into the ground outside the box, the walls of which
were bound to the posts. Traces of these posts and their binding are shown on Figure 44 d-f.
