BURIAL: Completely plundered out.
GRAVE GOODS: In situ.
1. Smooth RW. bowl, RPol., pebble burnished inside. H. 11.5, D. 25.0 cm. Figure 80 e.
In filling:
ii. Fragment of a smooth RW. dish, plum polished inside. Not measured. Not illustrated.
iii. Fragment of a small rough BrW. dish. H. 4.0 cm. Not illustrated. UCLMA 6-3501.
Broken end of a tibia in filling. On north wall of grave were well-preserved remains of a wood
and matting roof. Figure 80 c, d. On west wall, 20 cm. from NW. corner and 50 cm. above floor
was first, a cross beam (A) running from east to west. There must have been similar cross boughs
at other points, but no traces remain. On the north wall, 10 cm. from NW. corner, were remains
of a wooden plank (B) 17 cm. wide and 6 cm. thick at 53 cm. above floor, which stretched longi-
tudinally from north to south. There had probably been a corresponding plank on the east side.
On these planks were laid a thick series of mattings (3 cm. thick together), three in number, all of
Type II, the lower and upper lengthwise, the middle one crosswise.

UCLMA 6-3502.
Lower half of one leg ca. in position, the rest piled in center but most of ribs and arm bones miss-
ing. Broken skull (1) on debris ca. 15 cm. over floor. Age 12 to 14 years but sex not determined.
Under matting of Type I, lengthwise.

BURIALS: A. Adult (sex?) on left side, plundered.
B. Child (?) on left side, plundered. Figure 81 c.
GRAVE GOODS: No record.
Note: Notes on this grave inadequate. Figure 81 c shows an upper matting over both bodies.
Figure 81 d shows a detail of this matting with the following notation on back of print:
“Triple upper matting. 1. Grouped fibers, coarse cross threads, lengthwise. 2. Like 1.
3. Single fibers, pierced cross threads, lengthwise.” That is layers 1 and 2 are of Type I, length-
wise, layer 3 of Type II, lengthwise. Ed.
