We originally intended bringing out this number
nearly a fortnight sooner, but decided at the last moment
to wait for some news and information of great general
interest, the most important pieces of which, our readers
will see below.
As a young enterprise, our magazine can hardly
receive enough support on the part of our readers. We
are happy to say that the number of contributions, of
the most various kinds, was much greater for this number
than for the last one. But while thanking our readers
for these practical demonstrations of their interest, may
we remind them that it must be, of necessity, extremely
difficult for a German to print a foreign language, unless
written with greatest care and exactness, and at the same
time, that, if this request is heeded, the editors are spared
a great deal of unnecessary trouble. In the same way
much labour would be unnecessary if our contributors
would use only one side of the paper they write on.
We may conclude with the hope that the number
of contributions will so increase, in time, that we may
look forward to a great enlargement in size, of our
magazine.
The Editors.

Schriftsteller, letzterer ein Mann der ernsten Wissenschaft,
der hervorragendste Geschichtsschreiber Deutschlands. —
