School House and Army House.
At five minutes past 3 on Saturday afternoon our
first House match took place. Hassall I kicked off for
the School House, and the forwards backing up well
prevented the ball being returned. Armstrong and Prin-
sep made several attempts to get the ball out of their
25, but by the good collaring of Hassall I they were
unable to do so. Alter a quarter of an hour's hard play,
Mr. Armitage getting the ball, by a good kick sent it
into the School House 25. Here some good scrummages
were formed, Reid and Mc Gavin being especially con-
spicuous. Hassall I now by a good run took the ball
again into the Army House 25 and the School House
forwards playing up very well indeed, forced the Army
House to touch down in self defence. Mr. Armitage's
kick out took the ball well into our 25, but Hassall 1
returned it before their forwards had time to reach him.
Armstrong now made several good runs but was unable
to pass our behinds. Half time was then called. Mr.
Armitage now kicked oft' for the Army House and the
ball being returned some good scrummages were formed
in the middle of the field; neither side seemed to be get-
ting the best of it. The hall was now passed to Prinsep
who by a good run brought it well into our 25, and
Armstrong backing Prinsep well up, took it now within
five yards of the School House goal line. After three or
four minutes hard play the School House were forced to
touch down in self defence. Lorimer's drop out took the
ball well into the middle and here there were a numerous
amount of scrummages Daniell and Harford being espe-
cially conspicuous. Hassall I now made a good run for
the school and took it well into their 25. where it re-
