passed the ball to Lewis who failed to catch it, but by
some good dribbling took the ball down towards the
enemy's goal, when he neatly picked it up and ran in,
thus securing the third try which Coke converted into
a goal. Draper kicked off at the 25 and the town forwards
following up the ball took it very near our goal line but
our forwards especially Lambert, Hassall II and Harford
together with Armstrong soon brought the ball to half
way, where Armstrong by a pass from Jones managed to
secure the fourth try which failed to be a goal. Half
time was then called.

After an interval of 5 minutes Coke kicked off for
the school at 3, 55, but the ball was returned by a good
drop from Goddard. Some smart play now took place on
both sides when Hassall I by a good drop sent the ball
into the town goal and caused them to touch down in
self defence. Their kick off was well backed up by Mac
Gavin, Draper and Calvert who brought it beyond half
way. Coke and Hassall I by some good run succeeded
in bringing the ball to their 25 where the ball was
passed to Green who ran in, securing the fifth try but
this was not a goal. Their 25 kick was a very good one
and was well backed up by their forwards who managed
to take the ball well into our ground. Here however
Jones who was playing half got the ball and on being
collared passed to Hassall, who made a good drop, which
was well backed up by Armstrong Green and Lewis and
caused the town to touch down in self defence. Their
kick off was a good one but Coke by a good run soon
brought it back to their goal line.

There was some fierce fighting along the line and
the town slowly forced us back to the first flag where
however Green by a run well backed up by Jones took
the ball down to goal and the latter made the touch-
down ; the kick however failed.

Time was then called, leaving us victors by two goals
and four tries. We are sorry to say that we have not
received the names of the town team. For the School
played: Coke (back); Hassall I (capt.). Armstrong, Green.
Lewis (8/4); Ldwardes I, Jones (ljt); Vincent I, Harford,
Johnson, Matthews, Hassall II, Wild, Vincent II, Lambert
(forward). _
