off the ball remained in the centre of the field for some
time but was gradually worked back to the School
twenty-five where Mr. Blundell got the ball and scored.
Dr. Henderson kicked the goal. Soon after half time
was called. After the interval some really good play
was witnessed, until a free kick being awarded to
Neuenheim for off side, Williams II, the town back, in
returning the kick missed his aim and sent it into
Straghan's hands, enabling him to fall over the line.
Stoker made a good try at the goal. Shortly after the
kick off Dr. Henderson dribbled down the field and
scored an excellent try, which Mr. Price did not convert.
„No-side" was then called. The teams were
Neuenheim: Hodges (back), Stoker, Clayton, Leland,
Jolly (three-quarters), Hathorn, Priday (half), Hankey,
Jewell, Hill I, Straghan, Hodgson, Maule, Bradley,
Pepys (forwards).
N. C. F. C. v. Heidelberg College.
Played on the 30 th October on our ground. The
ball was kicked off at 3.15 and was quickly rushed by
the home forwards into the Heidelberg twenty five,
where it remained most of the time. The Neuenheim
forwards through having the best of the game were not
working so well together as usual. About twenty minutes
from the start Hill I getting the ball from the line ont
passed to Clayton who scored a clever try. Stoker
failed to convert. After the kick off some very even
scrimmaging ensued in the Heidelberg twenty five until
half time was called. After the interval the game was
again mostly in the visitor's twenty five but their for-
wards, headed by Wade broke away but were effectually
stopped. Very soon near the finish Stoker getting the
ball, very unselfishly passed to Clayton who scored
again very near the touch line. Stoker again failed
with the kick.
There is no doubt that Neuenheim had much the
best of the game but failed to score more through baek
of combination. Clayton and Hill received their colours
after this match.
The teams were composed as follons:
Neuenheim: Hodges (back), Stocker, Clayton, Leland,
