DER NEUENHEIMER.
XXIII
G. C. Maclean: A fast three-quarter with good scoring
capabilities, though apt to loose his head a little at
times. Dodges and tackles very well, but must
pass more and sooner. Has improved greatly this
last term. (Weight - 9 st. 5 lbs.)
H. Christie: An earnest worker, who shoves well in
the scrum and dribbles very fairly. Also is very
good out of touch. (Weight - 10 st.)
V.Dickie: A very fair back. Is quick, very tricky,
and a splendid kick, but can improve in his tackling;
must put more force into it, and go about it in a more
certain and determined way. (Weight - 9St. 4 lbs.)
Junior and Senior Handicaps.
On April 15 th the Junior and Senior handicaps
took place, the distance for Juniors being 220 yds and
for the. Seniors x/2 mile. It might be observed that the
Juniors were counted as under 15 not under 16 as is
usually the case. The Bamber brothers got 60 yards, and
Davison 65; evidently the Bambers considered this too
much and showed their displeasure by starting a full
second before time. At the top of the straight Bamber I was
leading with Davison a few inches behind and Bamber II
close on them. Half way down the straight Bamber I
thought his brother would like a turn at leading and,
respectfully dropping back, let Bamber II come on.
The finish was a close one: Bamber II, winning, Davi-
son coming a few inches behind with Bamber I a good
third.
The Senior [/2 mile was then run. Christie (40
yards) passed everyone before the run in, O'Flynn I
(scratch) following closely. Christie won by a few yds.
