DEE NEUENHEIMEB.
To the Editor of the " Neuenheimer."
Dear Sik,
As I still take great interest in the sports of N.O. I should
like to call your attention to those of the summer term. Ever
since I have known the College there have been two sports
during the summer, Cricket and Boating, and as they occur
on alternate days, fellows have been able to go in for both
and have always taken an interest in what they did.
Last summer a third attraction was introduced at the
tennis courts, which drew a considerable amount of attention
from the other games. Fellows would frequently make up
excuses to get away from Cricket and no doubt also from
Boating, so as they said " to play Tennis," but it did not
take much brain to see that there were other attractions, in
which they took more interest than Cricket or Boating.
It is a hard task to keep the two original sports up, but
when a third is introduced the task is hopeless. It is to be
hoped that someone will agree with me in this matter. I
could mention one on the staff who I am sure will do his
utmost to drown this "nuisance." Again a word of warning
to the future Captains about the miserable mowing machines
which disgrace the College, a number of rusty, broken-down
German things, which give a great deal more work than they
ought to. What with the bad language and the expense that
these " would be " cutters cause, it would be most profitable
to replace them with new ones.
I was asked not long ago by an " Old Boy " where all
the money, which was subscribed to the Sports Fund, went
to, as they seemed very " hard up " by the entreaties in
former numbers of the " Neuenheimer." I did my best to
satisfy him, but we both agreed that if a Balance Sheet were
added at the end of every Mag., O.N.'s could then see how
matters stood and the needy subscriptions, which for instance
are now wanted, to buy a new boat, would be readily given.
I should very much like to see a few new boats added to
the present stock, if both Cricket and Boating are to be kept
