Letters of regret for non-attendance were received from
Capt. Ernest Haig, Lieut. B. A. Hill, Messrs. E. H. Allpress,
E. W. Turner, Norman Brown, H. E. Owen, E. J. Owen, and
H. E. A. Nimmo.
The toast of "The King" having been enthusiastically
honoured, a telegram was read from the Frince of Wales
acknowledging the good wishes tendered by the committee to
His Eoyal Highness at Marlborough House.
" Neuenheim College " was proposed by Mr. J. A. Shar-
wood, and in reply Mr. Copinger Hill gave a good account of
the School, and referred to the great increase in the number
of pupils since he took over the sole management.
There were several visitors present, and their health was
pledged in appropriate terms by Mr. Eussell Nash, and
felicitously acknowledged by Mr. Fercy Lindley, who
remarked that he had met Neuenheimers in all parts of the
world. He had recently returned from the heart of Africa,
and was agreeably surprised to find some there, and every-
where there was a commendable feeling of friendliness among
them; in fact Neueuheimer might be the masonic term for
good fellowship.
Mr. Lionel Armitage proposed the health of the Chairman,
and pleased the company by relating the gallant deeds of
Mr. A. M. Dagge, of Oporto, and several other Old Neuen-
heimers.
In response to calls for " a speech," Mr. Northcott read
numerous letters he had received since the last dinner from
Neuenheimers. One from Lieut. Alex. W. Norris, from
Kumasi, enclosed a cheque for the Sports Fund and his "kind
remembrances to all." Lieut. W. L. 0. Twiss, of the 9th
Gurkhas, had received the Eoyal Humane Society's medal for
a gallant deed he performed on July 28th. The following
was the Society's official statement:
Mrs. Twiss, 62 years of age, in stepping from one houseboat to
another moored alongside in the river Sind, fell into the water and
was quickly carried several yards away by the strong current.
Lieut. Twiss, who was in the second houseboat was informed by a
servant that someone had fallen into the water, and he at once
