DER NEUEN HEIM ER.

ing place in a shower of rain. Our back division suffered much from the
loss of Fallowfield, his place being taken b}' Davison I, who was tried at
half, for the first time this season.

The persistent ill luck which has dogged us this season was more
than ever evident in this match. Our full-back, Roberts, was very much
off colour, having just recovered from a severe sprain ; Rix was also off
colour, and Crosby I was badly winded early in the first-half.

We won the toss and started off with the wind. A lot of scrambling
play followed and Jurasz, getting possession near the line, scored the
first try of the match for the Akademisher. The try was not converted.
After this our backs seemed to wake up, and it was not long before
Crosby I scored for us, after a grand run from the half-way line. A kick
from an easy position was missed by Mr. Jones. Soon after this our
forwards pressed and Dunning tried a drop at goal. It was a grand
effort but failed. We continued the pressure, and our three-quarters had
many chances, Rix unaccountably missing several splendid openings.

The second half opened with a lot of scrummaging in our opponents'
half. Our forwards got possession time after time and gave openings to
our three-quarters, of which however they did not avail themselves.
Towards the end of this half, after some very neat three-quarter play,
the Akademisher scored again at the corner. The kick from difficult
position failed. We pressed continuously to the finish and had bad luck
in not scoring. The game ended in a win for the Akademisher by 2
tries (6 points) to 1 try (3 points).

Of the backs the only one who calls for special mention is Davison I,
who played a great game at half. The forwards all played well, especially
Mr. Nicholls, who made many openings for the three-quarters, Mr.
Wilson, Brown I, and Murphy, who played a hard good game through-
out.

Our team was as follows—Roberts (back), Rix, Mr. Jones, Crosby I,
Cohen (three-quarters), Dunning, Davison I (half-backs), Mr. Nicholls,
Mr. AVilson, Brown T, Murphy, Weymouth I, Sandilands, Aylmer, Lake.

Referee—Mr. W. Copiuger Hill.
