The denarii from Jakuszowice represent a broad chronological spec-
trum beginning with a Republican specimen from 88 BC, through coins
issued after Neronian reforms, on to issues dating to the reign of Alexan-
der Severus. It is interesting that a substantial number of the denarii
(5 %) are post-194 AD Septimus Severus reform specimens which makes
composition of the series diverge from one typically registered in hoards
of denarii originating from the Barbaricum9.

Detailed analysis of the 101 denarii helped to establish at least 26 (i.e.

' Identical state of preservation is represented by coins originating from the settle-
ment at Feddersen Wierde in Frieseland - cf. note 4.
