Important achieruemenls ofProfessor Skowronek include two numismatic exposi-
tions organised abroad (in Stockholm in 1967 and in Helsinki in 1984). Cracovian
people remember his expositions "People and gods on ancient Greek coins" (1966),
"Coins of ancient Romę" (1967), "Towns and rulers. Exhibition of Greek coins"
(Bank of Silesia 1996). In the District Museum in Sandomierz he madę the expo-
sition "Coins in archaeological finds from the Sandomierz region ".

Still being the Head of the Coin Gabinet, in 1969 he undertook teaching at the
Cracow Pedagogical Unwersity. Teaching, alongside luith numismatics, became
Professor Skowronek's great passion. He wrote many papers and other publications
with his students - futurę archaeologists, historian and teachers - in mind. These
papers include "Cognitwe values of Byzantine numismatic sources" published in
Science and Teaching Yearbook of the Cracow Pedagogical Unwersity (1972). His
interest in the Alexandria mint resulted in his Docent thesis published in 1978 —
"Cult and religious motifs on Egyptian Alexandńa coins of lst—3rd centuries AD".

Professor Skowronek's erudition and his excellent writing skills are combined in
his work "Coin in the culture of ancient Judaism. The debatę on Herod the Great
coinage" (1994), distinguished with the Jan Gawroński Award. A catalogue of
the Alexandria coins in the collection of the National Museum in Cracow has been
published recently. The published work by Professor Skowronek includes numerous
reports on finds, hoards and collections as well as works which seemed to be more
cherished to Professor's heart — those on the importance of coin in ancient culture
and religion on coin as the witness of his tory. A third group ofProfessorSkowronek 's
publications is addressed to students, mainly futurę history teachers and those
publications are dealing with the role, of coin as a means of historical commu-
nication.

Professor Stefan Skowronek enjoys his jubilee in perfect shape as a fully active
person, still indispensable for the Museum and the Unwersity. We wish him many
years in good health, many fascinating theatrical events, and writing cdi he still
intents to write.
