the history of the occurrence of the disease in this country by ten
centuries. Since then, the finding of two more cases of spinal caries
(see Dr. Derry's Report, p. 20), which Dr. Ferguson also regards as
tubercular in origin, has added yet another thousand years to the
history of tuberculosis in Nubia, for the subj ects of the disease in these
two cases lived in the time of the Ancient Empire.

This season's excavations have also yielded the first case of
malignant disease (see Bulletin No. 3, p. 42) yet found in an ancient
cemetery here.
