the building. The lime mortar used in the
restoration had a small proportion of white
cement mixed in for the sake of durability.

complemented last year's building restora-

tions, helping to emphasize the main line
of symmetry that runs through the
mausoleum (Fig. 10). Helwan limestone
was used for the drums of engaged
columns, reveals and profiled niche framing
(Fig. 11). The only exception, with regard
to the stone material used, is a block
belonging to a monolithic pillar with
