1 Cf. Hackl, Jahrbuch 1907, 83 ff.; earliest Attic example,
Langlotz, Bildhauerschulen pi. 13, 1.
2 Nearest parallel, Munich 738 (Hackl, I.e. fig. 8, Lang-
lotz pi. 13, 3), but here the handles no longer stand off as in
second quarter of the century. No doubt the shape
was taken over from Attica, where it has a longer
history.1 At Corinth it retained a special character
which has no exact parallels among existing Attic
vases.
Heidelberg. Fig. 35 d and pi. 35, 3. A, head of 1154
youth; B, panther (style as in pi. 29, 7, which is
perhaps by the same hand). Pfuhl (i, 246) speaks
of this amphora as Attic, but it is certainly Corin-
thian. Fine, very angular drawing, contrasting
sharply with late Corinthian. Early sixth century.
