VI. KALYVIA
Between Phaestos and the village of Kalyvia. A necropolis consisting of several
Late Minoan tombs, some excavated by Xanthoudides in 1901, so far unpublished;
some by the Italians in 1902-1904. It was evidently the burial-place of the settlement
at Phaestos, for there is one magnificent royal tomb. The chamber-tomb in which
these vases were found was evidently used and re-used, for the pottery extends over
the whole of the Late Minoan Period.
