416. Ebony lion head, gilt. Bust of a girl from a toilet tray of
delicate work, characteristic of the XVIIIth dynasty. Stand-
ing ebony figure of a negro girl, probably the most natural
wood carving known of this age. In front of it was an ape
walking with a tray on his head, which the girl was steadying
with her hands; this in now placed apart, so as not to hide
