consequently it may very well be merely accidental that three Apollo tech-
nitai were represented in this gallery.
Returning to the plan of the votive chamber (fig. 18), we see that the two
letters L and M at the right side wall indicate the places where the hermes
of Staia Quinta and Hostius Capito stood. The shafts of these hermes were
found in 1885 by Lord Savile, but the busts belonging to them were not
unearthed till 1887, by Prince Orsini (158).
