I had no time to copy the pictures which were dimly visible on the walls, and the
small inscriptions which were written above some of the objects or persons depicted in
the registers : some of them, which might probably have been decyphered by an Egypto-
logist, have been destroyed since and are now lost for ever. Traces of colouring were
still visible on the roof and everywhere, though the Copts had been at work in this tomb,
as they have been in most of the tombs of the same range.
