POTTERY

413

The jars with rilled neck, of fine reddish-pink ware, are to be connected with the similar
jars, R. P. X, and Db. W. X, XI. The R. P. jars were found in K IV (grave) and K X
(grave), of which the earlier ones had well-formed rills and the later incised lines on the
neck. The Db. W. jars were found in KX (corridor), K X (grave), and in K XVI (burial
chamber C, three examples), and have well-marked rills on the neck, except in the case of

one of the jars in K XVI C. The R. W. jars have the rills only faintly indicated, and as
they follow on in K XVIII and K XIX, it may be assumed that they are a degenerate
form of Db. W. X and XI. The smaller pot, R. W. Ill—3, appears to be a further degenera-
tion of the small pot, Db. W. XI, in which the rills are not marked at all. The type is not
recorded in Egypt.

XIV-1

|K B 24: 2f; 40: x.

Total — 2.

This is the same bottle as R. P. XIII-4, without either red wash or red polish. The
material is red-brown, not very hard baked. The two examples connect K B 24 and 40
with K III; a conclusion which agrees with the other materials found in these two graves.
