The three E-W graves, E 22, 23, and 24, are quite small, having areas 0-59, 0-42, and
0-26 sq. m.
Group c: on north; row straggling inwards on west; 28 or more very small N-S graves.
The total number of graves is 77, of which 64 are N-S and 3 E-W. There are only four graves of more
than 1 sq. m. in floor area. The other 73 are less than 1 sq. m. and run as low as 0-26 sq. m.
h. The Subsidiary Cemetery of Wedymuw
a
The subsidiary graves of Wedymuw departed definitely from the group system of Zer and Zet.
All are arranged in a rectangle around the main tomb similar to the arrangement in the upper cemetery
of Merneith, in Giza mastaba V, and in the lower cemeteries of Zer, Zet, and Merneith (see Map i).
The rectangle is, however, not complete at the SW corner and on the west. There is a large tomb or
offering-place (probably queen’s tomb) abutting on the southern side of the substructure at the SW corner,
a stairway tomb of type II. Unfortunately the relation of the walls south of this tomb is insufficiently
preserved, but they may be assumed to belong to this tomb. West of the large tomb are two large isolated
tombs. Numbering queen’s (?) tomb as S 1, the two isolated tombs are S 2 and S 3.
