and one of the first books printed by H. Petri. Our copy is interesting because
it is entirely interleaved with blank paper, containing annotations by an former
■owner. The name of this owner on the title-page is crossed out. Some unimpor-
tant fusty stains, otherwise a fine copy.

Brunet IV, 35: „Edition rare, et recherchée”. C’est une satire sanglante contre
les dogrdes de l’église catholique et le Pape. Apostolo Zeno, Lettere, tom II, p. 476
croit P. P. Vergerio auteur de cette pièce, mais voy. Fontanini I, p. 382. L’impri-
meur Crespin est probablement le traducteur. Exemplaire complet et bien con-
servé.

ding with épiscopal coat of arms (former chain binding of a monas-

I. Brunet IV, 67. Lipperheide 1398. Wurzbach II, 63. Very scarce ed. in the
German language! A sec. part didn’t appear, neither of the orig. French ed.,
nor of this German one. The engravings by the Nuremberger painter Conrad
Saldörffer are very interesting a. important for the history of costumes and
represent the dress of Moors in Algeria, of Malta, in Tripolis, on the isle of
Paros, Chios, in Turkey, Syria, a. of Pera. Very interesting as well are the
pictur'es of Turkish military grades, footmen, wrestler, a Court cook, a
Jewish physician, a Grecian farmer, Turkish priests, Mohammetans, pilgrims of
Mecca; Persian, Arabian, Jewish, Armenian, Ragusian a. Grecian merchants, a.
the costumes of the female population of Greece, Turkey, Macedonia and Jews
etc. Descriptions are given of Algeria, Greece, Armenia, Malta, Tripolis, Persia
and Arabia.
